The Cashmere Quality

The Science of Softness

Not all cashmere is created equal. Understanding the difference between mass-market yarn and Omi Rose Italian craftsmanship.

1. The Fibre Selection

The quality of cashmere depends entirely on the length and fineness of the fibres collected from the Capra Hircus goat. Mass-market brands often use short, thick fibres to cut costs, resulting in itchy knitwear that loses shape quickly.

At Omi Rose, we prioritize Long-Staple Fibres. By using longer hairs, we create a yarn that is not only softer but significantly more durable. This creates a smoother surface that reflects light better and feels like a second skin.

2. The Truth About "Pilling"

Does it bobble?

This is the most common question we receive. The honest answer is: Yes, initially. Pilling (small bobbles forming on the surface) is not a sign of poor quality; it is a natural characteristic of any luxury wool made without synthetic glues.

The Omi Rose Difference

Because we use longer fibres and a tighter twist in our Italian spinning process, our cashmere pills significantly less than cheaper alternatives. Any initial pilling is simply short fibres working their way to the surface. Once removed (using a cashmere comb), they stop forming, leaving your garment softer than before.

How to Care for Your Cashmere

With the right love, an Omi Rose accessory will last a lifetime. Follow these simple rules.

01
Hand Wash Only
Never use a washing machine. Turn the item inside out and wash gently in lukewarm water (max 30°C) using a specific wool detergent or baby shampoo.
02
Do Not Wring
Never twist or wring the fabric to remove water, as this breaks the fibres. Instead, lay the item on a clean towel, roll it up like a sleeping bag, and press gently.
03
Dry Flat
Always dry your cashmere flat on a rack, away from direct sunlight and heat sources (radiators). Never hang wet cashmere, as gravity will stretch it out of shape.
04
Storage
Fold, don't hang. Store in a cool, dry place. During summer, use a breathable cotton bag (like the one we provide) with cedar balls to protect from moths.
